For this activity, we decided to choose from the "learning and living the gospel" section. We watched a General Conference address given by Elder Perry entitled, "If Ye Are Prepared Ye Shall Not Fear."
The New Year is a great time to set goals. I try to do a goal setting activity at the beginning of every year with the girls. The goal jars turned out so cute this year that I plan on doing them again this coming January.
Each "goal jar" holds 12 goals to be completed throughout the year (one each month). The girls choose their own goals, write them down on slips of paper, and place them in the jars. Some ideas for goals might include, "learn a new skill (or 2 or 3!)," "try a new sport," or "start every morning with prayer and scripture study." These are just some ideas. There are so many the girls come up with! Since having my daughter a few months ago, I haven't been as organized with planning these activities with my co-leader as I'd like to be. They have each managed to sneak up on me. That definitely happened to me when I realized that I needed to put together a fun Thanksgiving themed activity on the fly and on the (fairly) cheap.
