The New Year is a great time to set goals. I try to do a goal setting activity at the beginning of every year with the girls. The goal jars turned out so cute this year that I plan on doing them again this coming January.
Each "goal jar" holds 12 goals to be completed throughout the year (one each month). The girls choose their own goals, write them down on slips of paper, and place them in the jars. Some ideas for goals might include, "learn a new skill (or 2 or 3!)," "try a new sport," or "start every morning with prayer and scripture study." These are just some ideas. There are so many the girls come up with!

The jars have cute labels, a front and a back, that are easy to adhere to the jars using Mod Podge glue and small foam brushes. I let the girls cut out the labels themselves and glue them on. I always have to remind them not to be heavy handed with the glue (I believe "gloppy" is the technical term). A little goes a long way! Paint a thin layer of glue on the back of the label, and then place it on the jar. It's easiest if the jar is on its side. Then smooth out any bubbles.
Finish the jar with a bow. I went with twine, but a ribbon would also be really cute!

I made the labels into a free printable, available here:
