Chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorite cookies. They are also my go-to cookie when I need a sweet treat to please the masses.
I almost always add M&Ms to my chocolate chip cookies because it is such an easy way to dress them up and make them festive for holidays.
This is my favorite chocolate chip recipe. It can certainly be made without the M&M candies, or with variations in the type of chips used.
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 medium bag of M&Ms
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugars, eggs, shortening, and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Then mix in chocolate chips.
Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet 3 inches apart. Place M&Ms in clusters of 3 on each cookie dough ball and gently press being careful not to flatten dough.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Do not over bake! Remove promptly from pan and allow to cool on rack.
