This wreath is perfect for Easter and spring, and it is so easy to make. I love how it looks on our front door!
I put this tutorial together showing the supplies that I used to make this wreath, and the steps taken to create it. It's a simple project, and only takes a few minutes to complete once you have your supplies. This tutorial is fairly specific. You definitely do not have to follow these instructions exactly to achieve a similar result.
For this project, you will need:
- 12" grapevine wreath
- 14" grapevine wreath
- twig garland
- 2.5 wide wired ribbon
- natural wrapped floral wire
First, decide how you want the body to be laid out. I wanted my bunny to be tall, so I turned the larger, oval-shaped wreath so that the long sides of the wreath would be the sides of the bunny's body, and the small wreath would attach to the top, shorter side of the larger wreath. Doing it this way resulted in a bunny wreath that is approximately 40 inches tall once the ears were attached. If you want a smaller bunny, then you can use smaller wreaths, and less twig garland for the ears.
Next, attach the "head" to the "body", or small wreath to the large wreath, using your floral wire. Push the wreaths together with one hand, and pull the wire tight as you wrap the wire around the wreaths twice. Then, still holding everything tightly, twist the excess wire together as shown above.
Trim extra wire using wire cutters, and push the twist down so that is rests flush against the wreaths.
Now, using approximately 52 inches of the twig garland, shape the garland into bunny ears. It will be one continuous piece with the ends coming down and meeting in the front.
Gently break off the excess twig garland, and cut a piece of floral wire that is around 10 inches.
I put together a slideshow with captions to guide you through finishing the ears with the wire.
And here's another slideshow with captions to guide you through attaching the ears to the bunny's head.
And lastly, this slideshow will guide you through finishing your bunny wreath off with a bow.
And that's it! Now just display it on your door and enjoy!
